Some Great Local Things To Do

With the Bank Holiday almost upon us we thought we would create a list of great things you can do within 4 miles of our Inn. In no particular order – just as we thought of them.

Visit Pengelli Forest

This beautiful forest is situated just 1.5 miles from the Salutation along a beautiful country lane. The forest is a mix of Oak, Ash, Holly and Hazel and at the right time of year you can find Bilberries and red currants growing in the undergrowth. There are some lovely short walks and some quite long ones too. Maps of the walks can be found in the little wooden shelters dotted about the forest and keep your eyes peeled for the carved faces!

Visit Castell Henllys

A reconstructed Hill Fort just a mile along the A487 towards Cardigan from our Inn. Here you can step back in time to the Iron Age. There are a series of reconstructed thatched roundhouses, built in the original post holes discovered when the site was excavated. There is also a pleasant walk along a short length of Nant Hafren – one of the streams that eventually feeds into the River Nevern that flows past our beer garden.

Visit Pentre Ifan

A neolithic dolmen situated around 3 miles from us and the most famous of all cromlechs in this part of Wales. Today there are a series of upright stones capped by a massive cap stone.

Visit Ceibwr Bay and Walk the Coast Path

Ceibwr Bay is a beautiful cove near the village of Moylegrove. There is a small beach where you stand a good chance of seeing seals and their pups and you can also head north or south along the All Wales Coast Path from the beach. North will take you to St Dogmaels and South will take you past Pwll y Wrach (The Witches Cauldron) and onto Newport Sands.

Walk to the Summit of Carningli Mountain

For the best views of our surrounding countryside, a walk to the summit of Carningli will not disappoint. Fine views of the Preseli Hills await and on a really clear day you may catch a glimpse of the summit of Snowdon to the north. Do not forget to take the camera!
